When dealing with marketing (not just online marketing!!!) you have to consider AIDA principle. It is an acronym: A(ttention)I(nterest)D(esire)A(ction). It is basically the standard that produces solid results. You can use AIDA for every type of advertisement: sales pages, radio or TV.
Before applying the AIDA principle, make sure you know your audience. If you want to sell IT-related online courses, do not target people who are interested in finance or accounting. So you have to know your audience. You have to know what motivates your audience to take the next step in the sales process.

A – ATTENTION
Of course you have to grab the reader’s attention. You want to make him or her continue reading.
Thats why headline is very important part of the copy. 80% of the time dedicated to copywriting is spent on the headline. What’s very important: no scamming. Do not attract attention with something fake. For example: in the headline you say the eBook is FREE then the reader has to pay for it. You will be labeled as a scammer if you do something like this. Try to be as honest as possible.

I – INTEREST
Once you’ve grabbed the attention of the reader, it’s time to provide interesting information. What does the given product do? Why is it interesting? What is the benefit of buying that given product or service?

Of course not. So do not give facts exclusively!
D – DESIRE
Your aim is to persuade your audience even more. To back up your claims, you must provide proofs (for example social proof). So what to do?

If the client knows that there is a 30-day money back guarantee it is more likely that he or she will make a purchase. CUSTOMERS UNDERSTAND THAT YOU VALUE HIM/HER MORE THAN HIS/HER MONEY!
A – ACTION
It may be strange but YOU HAVE TO ASK THE CUSTOMER TO TAKE ACTION (buy something, click a link, share a post…). So you ask your reader or client to take a precise action. Copy without a clear call to action will not perform well!
